Good morning, Church Family.
What a busy week for many of our parishioners. Kids are back to school. Teachers and others in the education system are back from their summers. University and College young adults are adjusting to post secondary education. It is a busy time.
One of the unique things that happens on Facebook is that parents post “first day of school” pictures for their kids – regardless of age. It is kind of a “new chapter” for so many people.
This Sunday, we will be talking about teaching our kids biblical lessons as the theme of my sermon. Then on September 15, we begin Sunday School.
I have worked with kids in many different capacities. I have worked in a school system, church environment, camp ministry, drop in centre, group home, and even with teens who were part of the correctional system. I love kids. I even have one of my own (although he isn’t a “kid” anymore lol).
Jesus loved and valued children when he was on earth. He shook off the societal treatment of children, and showed the world how much he loves them. Luke 18:15-17 says this (in The Message) 15-17 People brought babies to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they shooed them off. Jesus called them back. “Let these children alone. Don’t get between them and me. These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”

This week, Iris Clark welcomed a new great grandchild into the world. This is the daughter of Zach Peters. She is also the niece of Chrystal Borrowman. Welcome to the world, little Harley Rose Lucier-Peters. May God bless you, Little One. May you grow up knowing Jesus, being healthy, safe, and happy.

DON’T FORGET THAT WE HAVE RETURNED TO 11:00am SERVICES.
Sunday School for all ages begins again on September 15. In celebration of this, please bring some snacks to share as a bit of a pre-church brunch, starting at 10:40. Sunday School will normally start at 10:00am.
Adult Sunday School will be meeting in the sanctuary and will be teaching some short topical studies looking at what we believe as Christians and as Free Methodists.
Children’s Sunday School will be meeting at the back classrooms. The elementary kids will be looking at Jesus and His miracles. The older kids will be determining a topic together once classes have started.
Scrapbooking begins again on September 19 and will continue on Thursday evenings. Bible Study begins at 6:45, and Scrapbooking begins at 7:30. The theme this year is “Unveiled: Women of the Old Testament and the choices they made”.
Tuesday morning Bible Study begins again on September 17. These Bible Studies are for anyone who can make it, and take place Tuesday mornings at 9:30 at the church. They will be continuing their study “Ministering Through Spiritual Gifts”.
There is Cowboy Church this Sunday, September 8 at 7pm at the Heritage Centre.
Save The Date! We are celebrating our Missionaries on September 29. Jason and Joanne will be sharing about their missionary journey that day. Then we will have a celebratory potluck and fun time centred around their mission work in Kenya. We are setting up a money tree that Sunday to be a special blessing for our missionaries.
Caleb Sigstad will be working with Pastor Dyan and the Board to move into opportunities of various ministries with Cornerstone. This is exciting, and we are thrilled to have Caleb being intentionally mentored in this way.
We will be having membership classes in mid September. Please talk to Pastor Dyan if you are interested in finding out more.
Camp Events: Arlington Beach Camp is hosting September Days for those 55+ on September 24-26. The Quest Camp is hosting Golden Retreat for adults (no minimum age other than adult) from September 9-11. Arlington beach is hosting Ladies Retreat from October 18-20.
Remember that there is Wednesday morning Prayer time at 9:30. A coffee time begins at 10:00 – everyone is welcome.
This an update from Gena and Dave Cleveland:
Our new address is Apt. 102 – 3700 Green Diamond Road, Regina, Sask. S4V 4B9 Land Line Phone: 306-565-2036
We sold our town house in PA, Sask. Now living in Regina on the East side of the city, effective August 16th. We are renting a two bedroom, two bathroom condo on the main floor. It is a new building that was finished in May 2024 and we are the first to move into this suite. Besides downsizing which was a big chore, we packed what seemed to be millions of boxes. We gave away a lot, we donated a lot, we sold a lot and even had our antique furniture taken for auction. Don’t know the results of that yet.
While unpacking we realize we still have too much stuff and thank goodness Jack and Abby are looking to buy their first home together, as Denise and Bill are accepting everything we have given, so far. Phew! That’s our news. Please share our new address and phone number with your family.
Thanks everyone. Big hugs and love from us

Please pray for the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and in the Middle East.
OUR MISSIONARIES: Jason and Joanne Borrowman, and Hannah. Please pray for them as they will be doing lots of travelling in Canada over the next months. They are heading west to BC over the next couple of weeks. Pray for safety, and for a moving of the Holy Spirit as they meet with many people and churches.
Pray for Sandra Langlois who had a laminectomy surgery yesterday. She will be in the hospital for a few days to receive more tests. Praise God for a good surgery, and pray that her recovery goes well. Pray for continued healing with some of her other medical issues.
Pray for Marlene Schutte who is dealing with the painful effects of trigeminal pain. Pray for good pain meds, and that she would be able to get her MRI soon.
Pray for Bobbi Dorian who is having some additional difficulties with her hearing. Praise God that she was able to get her MRI. She now waits to hear back from her neurosurgeon. Pray for helpful diagnosis and treatments.
Praise God that Lynn Dernoga has settled into her new place, and that her house has sold.
Pray for Lois Borrowman as she has not been feeling well. Also pray that her house would sell.
Pray for Bill Wilkinson’s mom, Stephanie who fell and broke her hip. She had an immediate hip replacement. She is now home from the hospital but is having trouble sleeping. The good news is that their daughter Kathy is able to stay with them while Stephanie recovers.
Pray for Caleb Sigstad. His manager resigned last week, and this will mean extra workload for him until a replacement is hired.
Pray for Darlene Peters who has been having some long-term health concerns. Pray for the doctors, and for effective medications.
Praise God that Sosa Iroere has found a place to live in Moose Jaw! Pray for her new town and new school. Pray that she would find a good church and good friends.
Pray for the Board: that God would give us direction for the church, and for the fall programs.
Pray for Cathy Bendle who is recovering from ankle surgery. Praise God there was no infection in her ankle.
Pray for Jayme Borrowman whose gall stone surgery has been postponed.
Pray for Chrissy Clark’s uncle who has been diagnosed with bone cancer. Pray for healing, and for his physical health.
Please continue to pray for others in our church with health issues.
Pray for our farmers: that there will be a good crop this fall. Pray for safety in the field.
Pray for the people in our congregation, or people who are connected with those who are struggling with mental health issues, particularly with anxiety and depression. Pray that they would receive the medical help needed during these difficult diagnoses and treatment. Pray that they would hear the encouragement of our Saviour over dark thoughts.
Pray for the Prodigals in our lives – that they will remember the goodness of the Father’s House and come home.
Let us pray that our congregation will grow, and that we will be able to attentively meet the needs of our visitors and regular attendees alike.
Pray for Pastor Anne Martin (former congregant of Cornerstone) who is pastoring the Pimento Walk Church in Jamaica.
Pray for the people in our community that are struggling with housing and food insecurity in Prince Albert. Pray for the community programs ministering to them.
Pray for Pastor Dyan and the Board as they listen to what God has to say about His great plans for Cornerstone. Let us continue to pray that our church will grow.
Many of our congregants (and their loved ones) are struggling with various health and mental health issues. Pray for their healing. Pray specifically for our young people who have many stresses and anxieties.

We are so very thankful for your ongoing generousity. Cornerstone keeps its doors open and participates in ministry due to your willingness to give of your tithes and offerings. In order to pay all of our bills, we need to receive about $7,000 each month. UPDATE: once a month, we will post a financial update in our bulletins.
Summer is usually a time when attendance is lower, as is giving. Please consider Cornerstone in your giving budget.
Pray that we will meet our bills and be able to continue participating in Kingdom Building and Church Care. Please remember Cornerstone in your regular giving.
Reminder that we now have e-transfer as another way to give to the church. E-transfers go to etransfer@cfmcpa.ca Two things to remember when sending an e-transfer to Cornerstone. 1. The Security Question can be anything you like, but please ALWAYS make the Security Answer ilovemychurch (no spaces). 2. If you wish to give for a specific purpose just make a note of it in the message/comments box when you send the e-transfer.
You can also send a cheque to the church or donate during the service. 2200 – 15 Ave East . Prince Albert, Sk S6V 6J5.
Tithely is no longer an option to give to the church. If you want to give online, please use e-transfer.

Please remember to PRAY FOR OUR CONGREGATION. Be ALL IN FOR PRAYER. Below is a list of our congregants. I have divided them into five groups. My challenge is that we pray for every person in one of the groups on one particular day, AND that we try to do TEN MINUTES of prayer for our church each day. By following the schedule, we can make sure that everyone is prayed for during the week. If you notice someone missing from the list, please let Pastor Dyan know. If you would like to be added to the list, please let Pastor Dyan know. The power of prayer is amazing. Ephesians 6:18 says And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. As a pastor, it is my prayer that we all (myself included) fall in love with praying.
